Problems to be solved (justification of the need of the transnational cooperation):

The problem we are tackling is a lack of commitment to Corporate Social responsibility at many levels in companies and other organisations and among many sectors and companies.  Some of this is no doubt through lack of interest but some is also because companies and their employees do not know what to do and the possible benefits which they can gain by adopting effective CSR policies.

Whilst the concept of developing and training ‘learning leaders’ to promote learning among the workers in individual companies has been very successfully used in some countries, no similar approach has been tried out for CSR.

Objectives to be achieved: Promotion of CSR in companies via the trained employee champions, who would be working at grassroots level in their company or organisation.  We believe that a company that has a trained CSR champion is more likely to sustain its commitment to CSR than other companies.
Main transnational activities (as provisionally planned, to be confirmed with partners): We are seeking partners to help us to develop and test the concept of identifying and training champions for corporate social responsibility (CSR) from among the employees of individual companies.  The project would involve the joint development of a one week training programme; then,  testing the training programme with shopfloor employees of one or more companies or organisations in each partner member state, region or sector.  Once evaluated and refined, the training programme could be rolled out for use in different countries/regions/s sectors.  Dissemination in each partner country will ensure that this happens.
Planned deliverables & outcomes of TNC: A training programme and materials which has been tried and tested in different EU member states, which can be used in different member states by social partners. A cohort of trained workplace CSR champions who will promote CSR in their companies and among their co- workers. Improved CSR polices among companies who employ CSR champions, ultimately resulting in better (and usually more profitable) companies and organisations. An improved understanding of the potential benefits for companies and employees from adopting good CSR practices and policies.
