Problems to be solved (justification of the need of the transnational cooperation): One of the major problems is work preparation of graduates in vocational schools in wlodawski township, which is inadequate to the Polish and European employers’ needs. The problem mentioned arises from the fact that the students attending schools involved in the project realise practices mainly in the school laboratories. Practices organised in workplaces, which are rare, are mainly based on performing only some simple and uncomplicated tasks. Moreover, these are group practices. Students feel isolated from the labour market, since they are not given any possibility to consolidate the skills acquired. Thus, it is impossible to verify and adjust these skills to the employers’ needs. This leads to the growing feeling of low self-esteem, reluctance and uselessness of knowledge and practical skills gained at schools.
Objectives to be achieved: 1) Preparing students for entering the Polish and European labour market after vocational schools graduation, and improving their chances for employment.2) Making students acquainted with the structure of English workplaces, employers’ requirements, management system, colleagues relations and practical skills required for a job which is in accordance with their field of study; this is to be achieved by means of shadowing method.3) Adapting shadowing method on Polish ground as a method of practical vocational training.
Main transnational activities (as provisionally planned, to be confirmed with partners): 1) Analyzing solutions used in Poland and other European countries in the range of practical vocational training. Effective use of shadowing method and validity of creating portfolio as means helping in work searching.2) Establishing cooperation with English employers who are experienced in using shadowing method and are ready to admit 20 students to 40-hour practices (2 weeks in February, 2015)3) Controlling practices and the method of documenting students’ professional development in portfolios.4) Assisting in developing guides concerning effective use of shadowing method for Polish employers.
Planned deliverables & outcomes of TNC: 1) Gaining experience by the project beneficiaries during the Polish and international internships2) Adaptation and developing a methodology for the use of shadowing in projects activating professionally in Poland3) Implementation of shadowing to project beneficiaries 4) Conference summarizing the project and its effects
