Problems to be solved (justification of the need of the transnational cooperation):

In the global, competitive and ever faster changing business environment traditional manufacturing business are strived to seek growth from industrial services. The project (PaBua) is based on research made about the area at the University of Vaasa and partner universities around the world.
The need for participating in the Fiche Project is to find partners to gather and share knowledge how industrial service business transitions are carried out and consulted in different business environments in other European countries. The ongoing project (PaBua) has been formed to transfer the up-to-date knowledge from university world to SME’s and to coach these companies in the transfer process from manufacturing to service way of thinking and making business. The transnational cooperation would bring beneficial exchange of knowledge how these issues are tackled in different environments.

Objectives to be achieved: The national-level objective is that participating companies will develop their service ideas to conceptualized service products which are ready for market. The multinational-level aim of the project is to ensure the survival of European SME’s in global competitive business environment. The exchange of knowledge in servitizing field would benefit the European economy though the increase of competence of involved SME’s. In scientific debate servitizing (i.e. transition of thinking from products to services and solutions) is seen as one of the key solutions to maintain the competitiveness of the industrialized western world comparing to the rising industrializing countries.
Main transnational activities (as provisionally planned, to be confirmed with partners): The main project activities would consist of knowledge sharing workshops, where counterparts from different countries would benchmark each other’s ideas in a transnational arena. During these sessions also strategic tools used are shared with the participating representatives. In the national level the project activities will consist of workshops and company-specific small group and training days arranged for the participating companies, in which their managers will be sparred in several ways. Here, the knowledge gathered in the transnational arena can be distributed further on to national level (e.g. PaBua), to local SME’s.
Planned deliverables & outcomes of TNC: The expected outcome of the transnational cooperation would be the knowledge shared though the partners found among Fiche Project counterparts. These will attain and share knowledge in following areas: strategic orientations, service business conceptualizing, attaining and organizing company resources to support service business and new competence creation through right alignment of company resources. Knowledge is thus transferred and shared in national level. In PaBua’s case the aim is to develop market-ready service products as an outcome of the project.
