Problems to be solved (justification of the need of the transnational cooperation):

The target group of the project are adults with  an unipolar major depressive disorder according to DSM IV. These persons are at work or they will to keep up their job.

Depressive persons have several symptoms (depressed mood,  loss of interest or pleasure, insomnia or hypersomnia, psychomotoric retardation, fatigue or loss of energy, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, diminished ability to think or concentrate, … ). Surveys shows that annual prevalence of depression by adults is 6,2% in Belgium. Both literature and the real practical situation show a high number of relapse in patients with depression as a bottleneck. Relapse doesn’t only affect the patients biological and psychological functioning.  It also has an amount impact on daily life possibilities, which result often in problems in the workplace.

The Flemish situation shows that, despite the specific needs and the high number of persons with a depression, there is no adequate work-re-activation or job support program available specifically for people with depression.
