V Transnational Partner Forum

The 5th Transnational Partner Forum was held in Warsaw on 20 and 21 November by the Polish National Supporting Institution – Centre of European Projects (NSI). 97 participants attended, with 66 projects from 6 countries being represented (41 Poland, 13 Sweden, 5 Italy, 3 Germany, 2 Ireland, 2 UK); most of them were in the preparatory or implementation phase. The key objective of the Forum remained unchanged in relation to previous incarnations – i.e. to help projects find suitable and reliable partners, and to establish lasting contacts for strengthening transnational cooperation under ESF.

This forum was particular in that it constituted a part of a longer process involving the pilot synchronisation of calls for proposals related to social integration between Poland and Sweden. 10 Polish Intermediate Bodies decided to take part in this process and therefore adjusted the content and timing of their calls accordingly, while encouraging project promoters to take advantage of the opportunities provided; as a result, several projects interested in forming partnerships with Swedish counterparts were represented at the Forum. The Swedish call for proposals should be launched soon (at present projects are in the mobilisation phase which lasts up to 6 months).

Forum modalities followed those already tried and tested. Thus an introductory panel discussion on ESF transnational cooperation in relation to the objectives of the Baltic Sea Strategy was followed by round tables (the main focus) organised by theme, as follows: 1) Disadvantaged groups, including the disabled (3 tables); 2) Youth (2 tables), 3) Adaptability issues - projects related to SME support and vocational education (2 tables); 4) Unemployment (1 table). Themes were selected in advance on the basis of fiches prepared by participants describing their projects and submitted to the NSI. All fiches are available in the “fishing pool” database available at http://www.kiw-pokl.org.pl. In order to help participants find partners, the discussion at each table was led by facilitators from Poland, Sweden and Germany; those who failed to find partners during the first day were assigned to different tables on the second day.

The Forum resulted in almost all projects represented finding one or, in most cases, more potential partners. At least 5 letters of intent were signed at the event itself.
